64
Channel Console with Automation & Total Recall!
September 2007 marked a major change at the studio - a totally reconfigured control room
with a new automated total recall console! The studio was expanded to a 64-channel
mixing console. The control room has a load of
new power. The new board offers state-of-the art digital
flexibility, routing, 24 busses, and the ability to easily track
48 channels at one time. An array of new microphones from
ribbons, tubes, and condensers have expanded the studio's
capability to sculpt your sound.
Studio is
located in: Arlington
Heights, Illinois.
A little history... Energy
Command Studios formally opened its doors in 1991 in a small location in
Glenview, Illinois. Within 3 years, the studio was busting at
the seams and grew into a multi-room facility. The studio
increased the console size to 32 channels and became a 24 Track
facility. In 1999, the studio moved to the current building
location in Arlington Heights where the console expanded to 48 channels and grew into 56 tracks.
While clients that knew the 2nd location in Arlington Heights as a
cozy place, clients always valued the big sound out of the mixes
that came from the studio. An off-site B-Room in the northwest
side of Chicago was added for
mastering, edits, and Digidesign
ProTools mix-downs in 2003.
In 2004, Energy Command took on its largest project ever -
moving to a much larger space (over two-fold the
old size) 2 units over and began the labor intensive building of what is now
the new location. Major upgrades were done to the studio,
including customizing room structure and adding an impressive
array of state of the art high-end gear.
The studio added the renowned DBX Blue series 786
Mic Pre-Amp and Two DBX Blue
Series 160SL dual channel Compressors. In addition, the
Groove Tubes VIPRE
all tube mic pre-amp adds incredible warmth for vocals and
instruments, and is a nice
compliment to the
assortment of large diaphragm condenser vocal microphones the
studio has.
The studio is proud to have the Eventide Orville
Harmonizer & Special Effects Processor, TC Electronics M3000
reverb, Lexicon Reverbs.
Other
significant gear includes Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording
pre-amp, additional Class A pre-Amps,
other gear from Antares, Lexicon, TC-Electronic Gold
Channel GTC Electronics Multi-Band Compressors, Yamaha Motif.
Newer Mic Pre's include Onyx Pre-Amps (16) and Pre-Sonus (2) to
go with older Tube Mic Pre's. Great Ribbon Mics including the
AEA R92 Ribbon Mic. SOme
really nice acoustic guitars including the Taylor 414-CE (M414-MACE),
Taylor 310CE, Seagul Cedars - 12 and 6 strings, and more.
The addition of the Mac G5 Dual 2.0 2TB HD + 1.5 gig RAM to run Pro-Tools
along with the power of the DM-4800 for 24 tracks of external HUI based
fader, muts, and controller capabilities adds incredible power and
flexibility to Energy Command Studios. The studio also has a PC
based 6300 Core-2 Duo 2 GB machine for running Pro Tools and
other software. Plus two other PC's. High Speed Wireless
internet and Cable TV for those who need to stay in touch with
the outside world between/during sessions.
The Waves Platinum plug-in's
round out the Digidesign Pro-Tools effects processing along with Steinberg
Wavelab, Celemony Melodyne,
& Sony's Sound Forge 9 & 8 (by
Sonic Foundry), Steinberg Cubase SX3.
Other great gear available includes 8 channels of
Focusrite Class-A Mic
Pre's, DBX Tube Mic Pre, Vintage Shure SM-7 and a newer
